    The division stormed Omaha Beach as part of the first wave of Allied divisions to enter Norther France.  It fought through the hedgerows of Northern France and fought through to St Lo and Vire.
    The division moved toward Brest where it entered the siege and captured the Le Conquet Peninsula.
    The division fought for the Uebach Bridgehead and at Aachen, Julich and Munchen-Gladbach.  The division reached the Elbe River by April 45 and began security details in and around Bremen.
