    Description

I'm not entirely sure what this is. I thought it was an old architectural spindle, but the person who sold this piece to me called it a pricket candlestick (the pricket is a metal spike to hold the candle) but the metal spike is missing from the hole on top.  She insisted this was an 18th century American primitive piece that was hand turned on a treadle lathe, based on the circular lines in the bare wood on the bottom and top of this piece.
7 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter across the base.
Original pink and light green paint.
The wood on one side of the top is chipped (photos 2 and 3).
