What is a Ring Sizer?
How many of us know what ring size we really are? The answer, which may or may not be a surprise, is almost none of us.
Ring sizing is actually a very simple process, but one which is all too easy to do incorrectly.
- The Objective -
Given that online shopping is now such big business, about 450 billion dollars big in fact, and that's just in the US. Online shopping is expected to grow by around 15% year on year, making it a trillion dollar industry by 2023. Of course, in among all this will be jewelry buying, and there's no reason to expect why the same levels of growth won't be seen.
If you are buying a necklace, earrings, a watch or most other jewelry items, then it's a fairly straightforward purchase, but what about rings? The biggest stumbling block to online ring buying is in our own hands. Or rather our own fingers.
Although there is something of a loose correlation between body size/shape and ring size, it isn't an exact science. How fit are you recently? In that case, your ring finger may be slightly bigger than it was yesterday. Is it a warm day? Expect some puffiness, then. Just come out of a boxing world championship fight? Well, you get what we're saying.
Your finger size, whilst not constant, will rarely change by more than one full size, however. Pregnancy or other conditions may affect your ring finger but, in the main, an up to date accurate measurement will usually mean you can safely shop for a ring online.
But how do you get an accurate measurement in the first place?
- The Solution -
You can, if you wish, buy a mandrel and ring-sizing set. Typically, these consist of a long, tapered metal rod, and a collection of sized metal rings. You keep trying the rings until you find one that fits, and then use the marked mandrel to establish the size.
The problem is that cheaper sets use quite wide tolerances and so the sizes may not be accurate. This makes decent sets quite expensive, and you might end up using it only 3 or 4 times in your life.
Or you can make it really easy.
Our Ring Sizer takes a different approach. Instead of having up to 17 different rings to try until you might get the right size you need, you only need one ring. The difference is that the Estate Diamond Jewelry Ring Sizer is a single adjustable ring.
- How It Works -
Working on the "belt-buckle" principle, the Ring Sizer is able to measure from ring size 1 up to size 17. Simply open the Ring Sizer wide enough to easily slip your finger in and then slowly reduce the size using the buckle. Do this until the Ring Sizer is a comfortable fit.
A ring that is a good fit should slide on and off the finger with little difficulty, but should never be able to be shaken off. There should also be little to no noticeable gap between the ring and the finger, to avoid snagging and potentially serious injury.
Once you have the Ring Sizer set to the appropriate size, simply look at the marks on the band. The arrow will point to the size you need to buy.
And that's it! It couldn't be simpler, really.
- About Us -
We are confident that the Ring Sizer will give a very accurate measurement when used properly. However, it does rely on you using it correctly. If you fail to do so, there is a risk you will be given an incorrect size.
Please note that we take no responsibility for the size shown on the ring sizer or ring sizing business card. So far, we haven't experienced any incorrect sizing from the ring sizer, but it may be possible that the sizer could show an incorrect size.
The ring sizer will arrive in a standard mail envelope. Please note that the black ink on the numbers (and dashes) may fade a little during shipping. This listing does not include the diamond ring shown in the picture above.
Due to limited quantity, there is a limit of 2 ring sizers per person.
